Hi Mate, I've also been looking for someone in Oz but have been unable to locate anyone. All that I have come up with is VRP,LET and Renntech in the US or Kleeman in Denmark. They all require the ECU to be sent to them which is a bit of a concern of sending an ECU from Oz to the US, downtime on the car, and inherent risks of it going astray or being damaged in transit. We then would have the problem of the time delay of Benz Oz bringing one out which more than likley would need to be sourced from Germany, could be a 14 + day wait. I had floor mats brought out from Germany and it took 16 days after placing order to get them as none were in stock in Melbourne and there was no stock in Singapore which is the regional distribution depot. There is also the matter of the exchange rate which significantly increases the cost to us. In US dollar terms for the performance increase the cost is reasonable but real cost to us is something like a 40% price increase over US prices. Good luck with the search and let me know if you find anyone.

I haven't looked yet, but i reckon it'll be hard to find a merc tuner down here...
There's just not a big enough modifying market here for anyone to go and become a merc specialised tuner..

Hi mate
Yeah its really odd i thought we would have a place some where to get tuning or performance parts fitted. Even just a place that specialises in AMG engines so i can get some mods fitted by a pro who knows AMG engines well. As was said i guess there just isnt a demand for it here. I would have thought many AMG owners would be wanting work done on their cars?!

Market here is too small for any specialist tuner whether Merc, BM, Audi, Ferrari etc. The only tuners that we have are for pushrod V8's or Japanese vehicles. So its either do nothing or import from the US or Europe.

Sharp Performance (www.sharpperformance.com.au) are the Australian agents for Brabus (www.brabus.com). Brabus have some interesting tuning products for Mercedes-Benz vehicles. I asked about an ECU upgrade for my C220CDI and it is available in Australia. I haven't done anything about it yet as I've only done 1200kms and want to give the car a chance to settle in before I do anything to it (and besides, at present I don't think it actually needs any improvement!)

CL600
I e-mailed Sharperformance through the contact us on their web site and got a failure, 'invalid domain".
Will eyeball from the street when I'm in Melb and take it from there.
I'm in S.E.Qld near Boonah but have been using Austar in Cooparoo for some work and found them reasonable so far. I've had this 94 Cl600 since Jan this year and it is a truly remarkable piece of engineering, but seems to have suffered from aftermarket change to 19" rims and low profile tyres. Had collapsed engine mounts and seems to have had continual probs with steering bushes. I've gone back to 16" and renewed the mounts and the car rides much more comfortably and feels more agile.
If anyone is interested I have two 9.5 JX 19H2 ET31 and two 8.5 JX 19 H2 ET34 wasting space here, open to any offer.
Cheers Dingo

Hi Dingo,
My repsonse from Sharp Performance was in late January. The email address was sharp@brabus.com.au, but I see that the brabus.com.au domain has expired. Maybe they forgot to pay the bill!

Hi Guys,
I have also recently tried to contact Sharp with no success. Certainly gives you confidene to deal with them. I'll give them a miss. Brabus is very expensive for the performance gains they make. Looks like its a case of leave the car as is or switch to Holden, plenty of performance tuners for these engines. Unfortunately the engineering in the Commodores is no where near the level of the Germans despite what HSV wants us to believe.

Um... sounds quite expensive for not alot of gain!!
But then again its a merc... they charge double or triple the price for anything :S
And seeing that they're pretty much the only one that does it, that's another double the price lolz

WAY you should stil consider getting a tune in my opinion. U will just have to re-learn how to launch your car. If your C63 is currently stock i think u will be able to handle an extra 30kw with practise. You wont regret that extra power
I have moded my car which uses the 3.2L V6 SC with 260kw. I added an intake and pulley and its considerably quicker than it was before. Stock form my car would do a 5.1 to 60mph. Now it does 4.4s all day long and a pb of 4.3. Had to learn how to launch the car again but thats half the fun!

Hi Guys,
I have a C63 that has been tuned by BPS. They are located in Cleveland. James tunes pretty much anything and loves his porsches .
So far, i am happy with the outcome of my car. IF you do a search under my username in the C63 section, there is information about my car with real time testing. He may not be the cheapest option but his head mechanic danny is an awesome guy and James is very friendly. Its more of a one on one relationship then just handing some money over for a service.
