01 W210 Head Unit Removal

I am trying to remove my head unit. I have the correct tools (see pic below) and tried it but the head unit doesn't come out. I can remove the A/C control unit easily but not the stereo head unit. When I stick the stereo removal key in the head unit I don't feel the clicking sound when the spring locks onto the key like I do when I insert the keys into the A/C unit. Is there something I am missing?

Thanks in advance.

If it is a standard Deck, it should come out with those keys. The arms will pull in when you slide those keys in the slot. You may have to pull the keys towards the middle of the deck once you insert them to insure that they grab the tabs.

This is waht my deck looks like, I think it's standard. The problem is the right key slides in and kinda clicks, but the left key slides right in without any resistance. I think maybe the stereo springs are messed up. Also even though the right side clicks it doesn't pull out.

Is there another way to remove the ehad unit?

If the left side key slides in with no resistance and you think it is sprung, then it would be sprung in the release position. Sometimes the radios are just snug in there. Have someone help you pull it out: 1) first open the cassette door 2) one person put the radio keys in 3) the other person pull the radio out by putting their hand in the cassette hole.
