nothing wrong with putting a sub into a SLK... just because it goes in doesnt mean its going to sound like every other cheap rice system that most people categorize with aftermarket sound systems. A good factory system can benefit from adding an aftermarket sub. Most Bose systems are killer when you add a 10 or 12" sub... something on the quieter side always helps... My recomendation for this vehicle would be 1 or 2 8" subs in a custom enclosure cut to exact measurements for trunk and speakers specs

dual 8 inch subs would prolly work well for you, nothing too loud but would complement what you already have. Actually many of the MBs are coming with 8" subs from the factory even some 10" subs. They arent the greatest of quality and arent all that powerful!!!

don't get too powerful or it'll start rattling somewhere within ur car... which is annoying... i say don't go over 10" if u don't want LOUD bass...

actually Renesis you are wrong there... wattage is what you want to keep low if you dont want rattle... JL makes a couple 8" subs thatll rattle the SH!!!!!!T out of any car, lol. And rattle is prevented with dynamating... My system is pretty damn loud in the truck, outside is almost as if nothing is going on. there are 11 rolls of dynamat in my ML... 2 in each door and 3 in my rear hatch door...

your other option if you are looking for some better sound is to leave the factory head unit in the car change out all the speakers for a really good set of speakers and then Amplify them... not sure what the speakersizes are in the SLK, but not a bad way to go... no need to sacrifice trunk space with the exception of an amp
