Remote Starter
Can a remote starter be installed on a 2000 S500 and still be able to retain all functions of the key?
I do not mind an extra remote (prefer not to if that is possible) but I want to make sure that I can keep all my current fuctions.
And if this can be done, which system do you recommend?

I will say that it is not possible. The security mechanism on the w220's and other mercedes is basically a form of PGP encryption. The car will only start if it receives the right code from the key when it is inserted into the ignition.
If you really want a remote start, then I believe Keyless Go is the only choice. I am not certain if you can actually start the car when you're outside of it.. i think you might be able. However, it cannot be installed aftermarket.

Fortunetly the dealership might be able to offer it, at a better price than aftermarket. Give em a call, most of the mb security systems use to be alpine and they could add the tilt sensors and other stuff, not sure with the new laser cuts and codes, but call the dealership.

............Dealership offer remote starter? Have ever talked a MB dealer about anything that is not exactly the way the car arrived from Germany? Us Mb dealers are still saying that it is humanly impossible to upgrade from startac to V60 phone even though this is done routinely. Unfortunately, your MB dealer is not the place to go for anything regarding retro-fitting.
