ICE Help!

Hi guys,

I am thinking of doing my sound system but I really have no idea what to do as I am literally 'blind' to car audio system upgrade. If anyone has some pointers, please help me out. I need info on things such as what specific component to get [subs, amps and ??], what brand to get for the components [i heard JL and soundstream are good], approximately how much it will cost [just normal ICE: subs, amps] and where to get it done in the SF area. Thanks a lot. If you guys know any website that explains about car audio; which subs or amps work and which doesn't work etc, please please please tell me... Thank you...

well first off what are you looking to gain? more bass? more clarity? do you have a price range in mind? Do you want to add navigation or DVD video capabilities

What type of music do you listen to or more specifically what music do you listen to most? This is useful to know when picking out different components and what overall effect you may want to acomplish...

I listen to basically all types of music but mostly pop, rock and hip-hop. I certainly would like to get more bass [i think that means i have to hook up some subs right?] As of now, I already have the COMAND system on my car so i don't think i'll be adding anymore aftermarket navigation. I am unsure about the DVD yet, maybe later . hm.. as for price range, does US $3000 sounds reasonable to get my system? Do you have any brand of the components to recommend? Thanks

Well im not sure what kind of deal you can get on equipment out there or what install bays charge but right off the bat I would add an amp and sub..JL 500/1 and either one 12W6v2(same set up I have in my ML) or maybe 1(need a different amp) or 2 10" JL W6V2s. The 2 10" subs will provide a more full sound but may over power your speakers... the same with the 1 12"W6v2. I bet the one 10" W6v2 would sound pretty good with a stock system. Not super loud but gives you a nice complement to what you have. For you to do front/rear speakers Amp to run both and install of all that stuff... it will prolly run you over your 3k limit... Try the amp and sub and if your content add the DVD playback to the command unit you have!!!
