hmm you could go with 8" W7 or Kicker makes an 8" L7(I think thats what it is) that hammers... a friend just put on in his S2000 and it rips with the roof up and down

I would reccomend trying to squeeze a ten in there if you can. An 8 will give you bump but it will not hit very low the 10'' will still be very punchy a little louder and much deeper than the 8''. PM if you have any other questions.

you are right, most 8s wont hit... this kicker for what it was was hitting pretty hard, it was as loud as my one 12"W6V2... and I have heard some W7 8's in the past that would blow you away with the sound they put out

Where are you going to place the sub in the R171?

I've got the same car and I"m in a daze as to where the sub should go. There's very little trunk space as it is...

Hey, I went to a local shop and was thinking about just taking the spare tire out and puting a 12inch sub in there because any box that i put in there will block the spare anyway. thanks for all your help.

not a 171 but i put a 12 in the spair tire location of my 170. you do have to give up the space though. if you are willing to give up the spair tire, than there should be a tone of room.
I tried to make the box shallow enough to keep the tire but just missed it by a few inches. anyways thats how it ened up but if i did it again I would have mounted under some lexan.
