The dealership is charging $550 for just the phone. These models are available for less than $100 on ebay and elsewhere. Cingular gives them away for free. Will the Cingular model work with the Mercedes? Do I need to unlock it?

It won't work. The Mercedes versions have a special firmware which lets them interface with the car.

 

You can always install a Mikbox and use non MB phone and more choices, too.

 

But he has a 04 E class which is MOST based and will not work with the mikbox. You can get a UHI kit from MBENZNL though. Ask Steve.
