COMAND and MP3?
Does the COMAND system have an auxiliary stereo input to which I could connect my hard-drive based MP3 player?

On some models (Like the C-Class) there is a Aux input as part of COMAND. On the S-Class and CL-Class there is no Aux input. I do not know about the E-Class, maybe someone else can answer that one.

Yes
The Comand feature adds an aux input in the glove box. I am putting a hard drive based mp3 player in mine when it comes in. Please post pictures if you accomplish this!

COMAND 2.0 in the E, ML, CLK, C has Aux input facility, which on the CLK is in the glovebox. - I assume that they have bothered to present it on other models, otherwise it should be possible to connect up a jack to the inputs on the COMAND (i can send you the pinouts)
COMAND 2.5 in the S, CL doesnt (presumably because 2.5 has an inbuilt cassette player and its internally wired permanently to that).
