two technical questions re: '05 E class audio system

I have the base stereo system..

Anyone know anything about it? Who makes it? Is it any good? Are the speakers any good? And can it be modified, more power etc?

Thanks in advance

Sam

Ok Samatha. (j/k)

Don't get your pantyhose all bunched up. What is your opinion of the sound and quality? Why are you so adament about what others think? Why didn't you search the forum as most of these questions have been answered previously?

I did, I wanted to find out what kind of upgrade possibilities there were specifically, amplifiers, and what kind of speakers I have (what they capacity to accept a larger amp would be).

I wasn't upset, just giving up on the thread.. and I don't wear panyhose.

Most factory systems/speakers can probably handle 20 Wrms, 40 Wpeak if it is clean power. For more you will need aftermarket. Not sure on the E speaker sizes. Also keep in mind that you will most likely tap into speaker lines to get your signa if you keep your std HU. Imaging of a sound stage will heavily depend of location. If you want to boost certain areas of the frequency range you will need an EQ of sorts.

Thank you... I was hoping that this was a more robust system that may have had a simple plug and play method of improving the amplification. If it requires too much tinkering, I think I'll just make due.

Thanks, anyway this is really all I wanted to know... that and who makes it? Harmon Kardon?

Don't know about Es. But MB has been known to use different OEM suppliers based on country.

BTW
Tip. The more info you can put in your initial post the better the answers and the info; i.e. I searched and found this, etc. HTH

Ok, thanks... btw.. I called them and they didn't seem to know in NJ what kind of stereo it had (which is a bit scary).

As for your advise, I will take it.. but try to understand, I didn't really get as upset as you may have thought.. I was more poking fun at the fact that people would click on a post, read it, and not reply even if only to say.. "I don't know" or "hmm... let me find out"

I also did a search for "E class stereo" and got nothing..

Guess what is polite in the real world doesn't apply to the internet. I frequent only one other message board (about another famous German product, Marklin Trains) and the people there are more likely to be helpful is all.

NP Samantha. At least you took it in the spirit given.

At least you got taste; MB and Maerklin. What time frame are you replicating with yours? Mine is the 70s where all 3 systems are in use: Steam, Diesel, Catenary/Electric.

ahh.. the old American breakfast... I myself miss the traditional breakfasts of cold meats and cheese that I used to enjoy at the hotels there, can't easily find that quality of cold cuts here.

Ironically, I ate lunch today at a German rest... Jager Scnitzel with red cabbage, and potato pancake.. mmm... good.

Anyway chat with you later... going to get a few beers with a Scottish friend of mine here... I'm going to see if I can find a good Warsteiner for myself to keep the German theme alive.. he's always drinking Newcastle, he's a lost cause!

True, but then again I didn't have any Broetchen or Schinken either. Oh well. Time to make and buy some again.

For decent lunchmeats you might want to try Usingers, phone/internet orders, and/or Boars Head, store only.

Warsteiner is good; but my preference is for Bitburger. And you are right about those island peeps and their beers.

All this is way... sorry to any who tuned into the audio discussion.

Yeah... we buy Boars Head actually here.. but I still don't think the quality is as good as it is in Germany, especially with the access to French and Italian cheese markets that you guys have.

BTW.. Maybe you can answer a question for me...

In the MB factory, would you say the majority of the assembly line workers and supervisors are of West German extraction, East German, or outside Germany (Turkey, Greece, etc..).. Or better yet how would you break it down? Are those jobs still good paying jobs with decent family schedules?

Cannot tell you the % makeup of factory workers. A lot of it depends on the location of the plant. Thats like asking about an autoplant in the No versus in the So of the US.

And in regards to lunchmeat. Nothing beats a little independent butcher shop in the country but these 2 I mentioned try to come close AFAIK and as permitted by US regulations.
