COMAND info needed [from hidden menus]
Hi
Could a couple of you guys in the US please do this for me on your COMAND screens ...
Enter the hidden menu diagnostic mode :-
Select AUX input [hit SYS button, select AUX] [dont need this on S/CL class]
Hold down MUTE, 1 and 3 buttons all together for 5 seconds
Once in diagnostic mode,
Select configurations, (using right hand rotary knob)
And tell me everything you see on that screen,
Ie, what is ticked, what is not ticked, and what the 3 numbers of
CFG are at the bottom left of the screen.
Can you also tell me what car, and what model year its in ?
Im working out how the CFG values relate to what is enabled on the system, and therefore how to make my "free" car diagnostic suite able to program the COMAND system to turn on TV stuff in the latest US cars.

Ok, can you post your german info aswell ? If you could also post the s/w version, which can be found by looking in the software versions menu, in processors, near the bottom

Why don't I see check mark on "Analogous Bose", since I have Bose in my car??

Richard, here is the info you needed. My car is 2002 C320 with US command system with Bose. And I took the car in Oct. 5 2001

Most diag errors dont tend to be important, and in fact many dont even get logged to the dealer's diagnostic machine
That one means fault in can communication with cluster, and its only happened 2 times, probably as was trying to communicate as the starter was cranking etc.
You can clear the error list by holding mute and 0 together

PS very wierd: after intalling the TV Tuner, the Tv menu is in german and not in english. Everything else is in english. tried all the setting on the STAR with no luck! any ideas?
When I have installed the same tv tuner on a 2.5 german comand system, it showed the tv menu in english....

I imagine the TV tuner is coded with the wrong country in it [even with that very strange behaviour]
- it may be the "default language for COMAND" coding, or there may be one for the TV tuner itself (which is seperately programmed by Star Diagnosis using the COMAND unit as a gateway to the TV tuner
So I suspect a trip to a dealer with Star diagnosis to configure it is probably needed ...

in their diagnostic menu. But mine doesn't have this item. Can you tell me what is that mean and why I don't have it. Thanks !!

That menu item started being displayed for mY2002 (or maybee MY2001) I think. The configuration item in star diagnosis that turns it on/off has always been there I think ....
Its actually "Instrument Cluster with self centering text"
If the text isnt properly centered in your phone/nav display then it needs the setting changed.
I know my CLK (MY2000) didnt have the self centering text, so this item was off. The MY2003 SL also doenst have self centering text.
Im not sure what vehicle has self centerintext, I guess there is one or two !

I just got a 2004 SL500. Here's my info:

CFG.: 22 4D 04 Ramimpuls: 30
I also have a ODB II Scantool, and I am willing to experiment. Let me know if I can be of any more help. I ordered a Dietz AV Interface and would like to activate the TV (now SAT) button to connect remote video to the COMAND screen.:p
