Question 2005 SLK 350 Radio Trouble

I took delivery of my 2005 SLK 350 in November 2004. Since that time, the radio volume fluctuates up and down at random. MB has looked at the problem and even replaced the radio, the back section of it and the antenna. It still continues to give me problems. The volume can change up and down some 20 times in the course of a 3 minute song. MB now tells me that there is a device built into the radio that makes it continually look for a better signal and the volume changes is the radio searching for the signal. They also tell me that no one else has reported the problem. It is frequent, very obvious and very annonying.

I am looking for anyone who has had a similar problem and if it was fixed. It would also me nice to know if everyone elses is doing okay.

I have the upgraded sound package in my car.

Thanks.

...so - I presume they started by swapping the audio gateway and microphone near the rearview mirror before they wasted time on swapping the headunit?
