Hands free phone problems

Got the Motorola v710 dealer installed. It seems to work, however I get better reception without it being installed in the cradle! I have 2-3 bars worth of signal, then when I put it into the cradle, I show NO SERVICE. Going to bring it back to the dealer to check integrity of the antenna and booster system which is supposed to be in the car. Anyone know anything about the antenna, booster system?

Has the the little round gray rubberized plug in the back of the phone been removed? That covers the hole where the antenna connects in the car kit.

Antenna issues

Thanks for the thought, but the rubber plug has been removed and it looks like it is seated properly. On previous cars I have noticed that after a period, when you carry the phone in your pocket some fuzz gets into the antenna hole and you have to blow it out, but this is a new phone and it is clean. I am getting some readings on the command screen, so there is contact. I have a date with the dealer next week. I'll post what he finds.

No Dealer Help

Dealer looked at the phone and said there was a loose connection. I see no difference in the sensitivity of the unit. I still have 2 or 3 bars with the phone out of the cradle and no service when I put it in. Even when I am right next to a cell tower, I get 4 bars in the command unit and 5 when I pull the phone out. Anyone know how to effectively test this system? It seems to me that they need to hold a portable rf generator near the antenna and then measure the effectiveness of the system downstream to the antenna input. I am not giving up at the dealer. I told him I was not satisfied and that they needed to go to a higher level of maintenance and figure this out.

My dealer just replaced my v60is with a v710. I don't seem to have your problem, but I'm told that my voice sounds muffled to someone I'm speaking with, handsfree. The incoming sound is very clear. Can you confirm same, or is your voice being trasmitted with a clear, crisp sound with no hollow or muffled effect.

How about putting your phone in another car at the dealer and checking signal strength? This should prove it prety quick. Sounds to me like something is wrong.

When the phone is connected to the car, is the signal strength shown on the car the same as show on the handset?

Hands free phone problems solved

Turns out the problem was not in any connection areas. The modules were not programmed correctly. Apparently, modules are world specific, so they have to be programmed for the type of cell service that exists in a particular country. Once this was done, I now have excellent reception, better than just the phone. The antenna and booster system, do actually boost the signal.
