Nothing MB related (sorry)
If you have a US spec DVD comand, it should be capable of playing MP3s.

As far as DVD capability is concerned: that is only possible on Euro DVD comands. Here is a link with more info:

Alpine now offers a Factory Display Interface Adapter. It sells for $300. You'd have to purchase a seperate DVD player or changer and a seperate MP3 player (Alpine also offers an adapter for your iPod). This might be what you were asking about, hope it was some help. I'd check with a local shop to make sure about compatability before making the purchase.

Here's the website description:
Now you can add on and upgrade your system without sacrificing the factory look or functionality in your car. With the Alpine VPA-B211A, VehicleHub Interface Adapter, you can easily connect aftermarket video, navigation, iPod®, and other drive-changing devices. Control your new upgraded system conveniently through VehicleHub’s easy-to-use graphical interface via remote control. You won’t have to modify your dash and change out your factory radio or monitor just to get more excitement out of your ride.
