Tv Tuner CLK AMG AMG Autralia
Hi Everyone, just joined the forum.
I have a new CLK 55 AMG arriving shortly, I am in Brisbane Australia. The clk 55 that is arriving has NAV/Command but no TV. Apparently becuase of the laws in Australia the Digital DVB-t Pal system which is the same as in England is not allowed in Australia because the Teletext stays on the screen while you are driving. MB are trying to turn it off. I am lead to believe the E55 does this anyway in Australia so something strange is going on, thr E55 is running Analog Pal.
I am looking for a company that can supply the equipment from Engalnd so I can install the the TV system into the latest CLK 55 AMG.
The dealer has a tech that can install anything, even a chamel in the trunk, can anyone point me in the right direction.

robertus,
The Australian DVB-T system is slightly different to that used in the UK. The Australian system uses 7MHz channels, and broadcasts on both UHF and VHF; the UK system uses 8MHz channels and broadcasts only on UHF. I expect that the same holds for the analog system.
So, a UK tuner won't necessarily work in Australia, unless it's been designed to handle the differences. That may well be the case, but it would be worth your while to make sure, if you haven't already done so.
Cheers,
---Julian

Hi Too Dogs,
You are right in the fact about VHF & UHFin Australia. The old VHF Pal system is being replaced and we now have digital Pal DVB-t UHF on the 7 Mhz & 8 Mhz band range. I have been told to get the VHF Pal tuner which will then allow me to plug a digital tuner into one of the RCA input sockets & or either a DVD player.
