Newbie W211 question, after hours of reading

I bought a certified 04 E500 wagon a week ago, and have been reading the forums extensively since then. I have the h/k Logic 7 system and a US-spec Command unit with navigation. The dealer is installing the oem Sirius unit next week. That's a step in the right direction, but I'd like to integrate several more things that I've read about here. The list goes like this:

1. Sirius receiver with ability to display song info on Commmand screen

2. RDS data from FM radio displayed on Command screen

3. iPod integration, with wheel and Command buttons controlling iPod, and song information on Command screen

I don't care about mp3 playback from discs (DVD nor CD), nor about being able to play a DVD video on the Command screen. If that comes along with a solution for the things I want, that's fine.

Given that, here's what I think is and is not possible:

- All sources will show song information only on the instrument display (so disappointing, with that nice screen available)

- There's no way to get both FM RDS data and sattelite radio on together. That's because RDS only comes in the Euro-spec Command units, and they don't support Sirius.

- The iPod integration will require an update to an 05 Command unit, either European or US.

If I'm right about all that, then I think the closest I can come is to get an 05 US Command, hook up the iPod and Sirius to it, and live without FM RDS. All music information will be displayed on the instrument panel.

Have I figured this out correctly? I sent an email to Steve's company, but I think they are quite busy this week!

Rds

Not having RDS in a radio is dumb. I cannot fathom why MB (or worse, MBUSA) doesn't have it in vehicles.

Not having RDS is "so 1990's".

Except there are still markets where not every station will display RDS data. I'm sure that if you drive further west, like Arkansas or Oklahoma, you will find that scenario.

Probably true...

and i'm sure you'll find tons of MB's driving around the heartland, car 1: Ford F150, car 2: Eclass - NOT!

I'd guess the majority of markets that have huge population centers and wealth [ny,dc,atlanta, fl, chicago, west coast] all have RDS and lots of MB's. Assinine why something like this isn't available.

I have RDS enabled in my X5, and I can't figure how to turn it off. It's cool at first, but then it gets really lame on how it takes a few seconds or more to switch stations.
