Hacking BOSE Stock amp

Hacking BOSE Stock amp
Hey guys,
I have a 2002 ML 320 with the BOSE premium sound system (CD-Changer, and tape headunit).
I have decided that I will not be buying the IceLink, nor do I want to change out my entire system, because the BOSE sounds decent, but I need an AUX input.
What I Have set out to do is hack the inputs on the stock amp so that I can add a secondary input which i could then connect my Ipod to. Essentially, it would be my ipod feeding into the BOSE amp.
HAs anyone done this? Would I need a Amp and a converter or a equalizer in order to work with the amp, any ideas?
Thanks

do a search in the C-class threads.
There is a few write-ups where some guys, took apart the head unit and soldered their ipod wires to the tape-deck circutry. In doing this, the sound was supposed to be of excellent quality. Just push the tape button and your good to go, plus you can still use bass and treble controls.
I understand that sound quality is WAY better than RF and of course just adding the cassette adapter.
