I'm considering a carputer and just doing some research. I ran across imobilepc http://www.imobilepc.com/ (xenarc apparently is also reseller for this).

This looks interesting in terms of keeping the OE head unit, and has possibilities like wireless internet, OBD-II, and XM radio add-ons (I have the Euro COMAND unit so I lost the Sirius Satellite option).

Unfortunately, it doesn't have touch-screen capability (it would be too difficult with factory COMAND unit)

Thoughts? Anyone come across anything similar?

Do a search for "Carputer" and you will find my thread. I have one in my car. The keeping of the stock COMAND head unit probably isn't going to work if you don't have an AUX input. Plus, like you said, the COMAND screen isn't touch capable. I replaced my head unit with an aftermarket one that had an AUX-IN and it not nly works great, but sounds a hell of a lot better. I used a laptop in my install. Check it out.

Things in that thread have changed a little. I have installed a different head unit since the stock head unit would not accomodate and Aux-In. I haven't been able to get a hold of a digital camera in quite some time to take pics of it now that it is fully finished and working in my 99. I sold the 95 about three months ago so that installation no longer exists. I will find that thread and post the new updated pics as soon as I can get a hold of a camera.
