I imagine its a Euro ML, as he says it has COMAND - US ones have MCS

Anyway. Ive only looked at Euro ones.

Adding phone is easy[ish] - the aerial wiring is alredy there, and most of the other wiriing is there.

The control units end up under the front right hand seat - if you wind it forward you will find a wiring loom bundle.

Assuming you want to do it the same as the factory, you need :-

Mounting plate for under drivers seat for control units
Wiring loom for under seat for option 852 [nokia portable]
Phone control unit [theres about to be a new one that supports the 6310/6310i properly]
E-Net compesnator [if you want to use GSM1800]
Resistor-for-aerial
Fibre optic to run from seat to head unit
Phone console
Nokia 6xxx holder
Holder mount. [holder clips into this]

If I were you and you only want to use 62xx/63xx, id get the holder from the new E class, not the old type [in ML, etc] as its prettier.

MB dealer shoyld be able to find part numbers - I have a list somewhere ...

Installing is easy if youre used to dismantling cars :-

Remove front seat.
Put controller(s) and loom on to plate
Plug the resistor in to the aerial cable under the seat so that the connector is in the foam tubing [obvious when you see it] - other end goes to the E net compensator, other cable to other side of E-net compensator. Just connect two together if not using E net compensator
Remove right hand footwell fusebox cover
Remove cover under dash above right-hand footwell,
Remove foot-plate insert with "mercedes" on it, and unscrew screws below - this takes off the plastic trim around bottom of door frame - this allows you to run fibre optic from head unit to phone controller.

Remove COMAND unit, you will see the socket for the phone handset and the aerial [get tools from dealer, a few $]
Poke cables out of side of dash board
connect and mount the cradle etc
Connect fibre optics in. You will have to unclip either the black connectro about 3inches along the cable, and undo the shell of the connector in the head unit, and connect your new cable in series (leaving you with a 3 inch unused section of fibre optic]

Put all back togeher

Take car to dealer [at some time] and have him tell COMAND it has a phone [not urgent]

Hope that helps
