Valentine One in SL500-where on winshield?
I am having a Valentine One hard wired on a '05 SL 500. The black dot area of the windshield is VERY small and this is the area that I have used to mount the other V1's I have used on other MB's. Since this area is so small on the SL, and the V1 is rather large, how and where does one mount the V1 on an SL and have it work through the windshield. ANY quick answers would be appreciated since I am getting it installed today. Thanks.

Up near the mirror or visor is the best location, to maximize detector performance.
The issues you've defined, rain sensor and detector size, also affected my hard-wire location selection on my wife's vehicle.
The location that worked best in that instance was at the bottom of the windshield, just above the wipers, in the center of the dash. The power wire is a short loop, fed between dash trim seams.
This obviously uses the suction cups.
