Thanks for everyones help. If you need to change your S/W version go to http://www.planetmotox.net/monster_packs.php and select S/W version: R374_G_OE.42.09R_MOTOX.shx It is the 2nd on the list. Download this into comp. Then go to http://motox.info/showthread.php?t=5747 and follow the directions on how to load it onto your RAZR. This version is the US approved version that AWS told me I needed and would have to buy a phone from them. If you have an older RAZR this will also upgrade your phone with a newer software version.
Other useful downloads are located on this page http://www.motox.info/showthread.php?t=13796
You will also need to download RSD Lite and can get that from here http://en.soft4gsm.com
Hope this is helpful and saves you the $350.00 for the new phone.

You are 100% correct. I had to buy a new PSE(newest with blue label) for my 2002 E55 in order for the BT puck to work.

I am confused now.
I was initially under the impression the bt puck for v60 is only for the d2b system. however just got off the phone with aws and they confirmed that it will work with MOST (ie 04 w220) as long as you have a v60 cradle. he wasn't sure but he did ask someone who confirmed it. is this true? so it would work for 03-04 E and 04 S classes?

Can anyone confirm if the BT systems are the same regardless of which MB class.
i.e. can I assume that the BT system on the S-class will work the same as the BT system on the E-class? I called my dealer and he has BT on some S-class models. I want to visit my dealer and demo my phone with a BT system to test compatibility before ordering one for my car (an E-class).

The only exceptions are M-Class (MY '05), G-Class, SLR. These vehicles still use the older V60 compatible systems.

Don't forget to have someone call you while you're already in a call to see how your phone's Bluetooth link reacts. It's one of the more common issues that stresses the link. Try accessing voicemail. If your phone downloads it's phonebook, try making a call during the download as an added stress test.
Good Luck!

ok, but is it the same bt puck for both systems? i have a d2b and a MOST car, both with v60 cradle.... i would like to interchange between them.
if not, then what are the two mercedes part numbers for each system?

My assumption is that the V60 PSEs will also work with the puck, e.g., Q682-0845 (V60) or Q682-0886 (V60).

How sure are you about your source?

There is only one Puck (V60 Bluetooth Cradle Adaptor, B67875856). It works with all cars that have a functioning V60 phone system with V60 cradle installed.
Cars with StarTAC systems require V60 cradle and new V60 PSE.
Cars with Timeport will need a V60 cradle and may need a V60 compatible PSE (newer PSE was phased into production during the Timeport run). There is no VIN cutoff for the change so one must look at the PSE and see if it has a blue part number label. If white, it needs to be exchanged with a blue one.

Mercedes PSEs (for Timeports and V60s) work with one phone or the other, unless you have the "blue tagged" PSE. See some data borrowed from Mik's website (Mikbox.com) below:
"Following PSEs are currently supported [these work with the Mikbox, but you need a different Mikbox for use with different PSEs]:
- Q682-0460 (StarTac)
- Q682-9460 (StarTac)
- Q682-0648 (Timeport)
- Q682-9648 (Timeport)
- Q682-0754 (V60 & Timeport "auto sense")
- Q682-0845 (V60)
- Q682-0886 (V60)"
The "auto sense PSE is the one they call "blue tagged."
If my information is accurate, the puck emulates the V60 but not the Startac or the Timeport. Can anyone else confirm this?

You're spot on, Puck only works with PSE's that are compatible with V60. If you've got a functioning V60 hands-free system and want Bluetooth and a new handset, the Puck upgrade is a no brainer.
There is also a cool new version of the Puck on the way, code name "Puck with Tail", that will make owners of MY 2004 S-Class and MY 2003-2004 E-Class owners very happy. If you have one of these cars without a phone system, just add "Puck with tail" to get a fully integrated hands-free solution. This is possible because hands-free phone functionallity was built into the CP211 communications platform (specific Teleaid Box) included in every one of these cars at the factory. This new Puck has a leadout that simply plugs into the cradle connector tucked under the center console floor, no other hardware needed! The bad news is that it is not expected until about October this year.
