1996 S420
Antenna doesn't extend
I drive a 1995 S420. (I've had it a couple of years). Love the car. It's the latest of 9 MB's going back to a 1939 that I bought in Germany in 1956. It's been fault free for about last 40,000 miles.
It has a Becker (BE1492) with 6 CD changer in trunk.
The antenna has never extended. It doesn't seem to get any power when radio is turned on. My indie tech first said it had a window antenna .. WRONG. My dealer tech said it was because there was no phone installed and that the antenna only went up when using the phone.
It basically impacts the radio reception when on long trips. It's fine around home, but I hate having something that doesn't work when it should.

antenna should go up when you turn the radion on.....xould be either the motor unit or hopefully just needs a new antenna cartridge....btwn 40-60 dollars plus labor

The intro to service for 95 says the antenna was only for cellular, and there was an on glass and bumper antenna. and the antenna would go up when the phone is turned on, no phone no antenna.
