The Bose system was a poor choice because it is designed to work well in the passenger cavity of the S class. The enclosure, the speaker, and the amp are all tweaked to yield a pleasing result. Moving car audio to a new place is usually a disaster for Bose equipment.
Be warned about your ears, people who have this sub in their car now say "huh" a lot of the time. (just kidding)

also you mention an amp that can boost power to 4 channels in my car ... what would that be and where the heck does it go ?

If you were not pleased with the sound of the Basslink II, the other products in the series might not be to your liking. The T version is a repackaged version to allow use in small spaces like behind pick-up seats.

ANy clue on the 11 speaker (I think) HK in a 2005 C55?
Any good documentation on the HK before I start tearing into it?
Couple things I don't like... the sub is white, which I fixed by making a cover for it.
It hangs down into the trunk area unlike the factory HK sub. This takes up MUCH less space than any of the box type subs (Basslink, LAT5, LAT7.. custom box..) but you can see it sort of.
I'll snap some pics when I get a chance.
It's raining right now, but when it stops I'll go take some.
Really not alot to see.. just the JL sub mounted (with a custom adpater) where the HK sub is supposed to sit and I got the JL amp on the back wall of the trunk.
I wasn't impressed at all with the Infinity or Alpine powered units.. at least not in my E500. Of course they filled in the bottom end some.. but just didn't have that extra kick I like.
The Infinity/Alpine units would probably sound much better in a SUV or a hatchback.
Can anyone input on this?
The JL I used is a 10" and I dont' have the amp turned up all that much. It hits real hard.
A 12".. hard to say.
One thing you will find though if your car is anything like mine (05 E500) once you really put some sub-bass to it.. it's a rattle monster. Rear door ashtrays, the 3 rear headrests jump up and down with each bass drum hit (I velcro'd them down as they dont' get used in my car), both front and rear 'dome' light centers, driver and passenger doors, obviously the rear deck rattles bad with a sub stuck to it. I was amazed at how rattle free this car was (except for the squeaky front seats) while driving it to turning into one of the most rattle plauged cars I have ever been in after adding some sub bass to it. The mat fixed it but man, what alot of work.
