It's not feasible to upgrade the headunit (assuming of course, that you're not Bill Gates)!
The download is not alphabetical, it's by memory location. You're phone can sort entries by alphabetically and so can the car once the memory is loaded.
The download proceeds by actual memory location. If you check you phone's entries, you should see the memory location listed for each entry. In other words, Albert may be at location 200 but Alfred may be stored at location 10. In this case, only Alfred will make it into your head unit.
