XM Radio Installation

Guys
I have hanging off my drivers side vent an XM radio. This gives me easy access however there are wires everywhere! (Power cord to cig lighter) antenna wire runs to the back of car for maximum reception, and wire to tape player. I have finally figured out how to stretch the tape player wire so the main radio door shuts properly however would like to somehow have the XM unit powered via the main unit. Also the antenna is really driving me crazy for when I put the top up and down I often have to remove prior to doing so. Im sure I could go to a local stereo installation shop to install but they want a fortune for what i am conviced is a 15 minute job. Id like to tackle this one myself.

Any recommendations...photos perhaps? (2001-SL500)

thanks in advance!

Going to a good and recommended shop isn't such a bad idea. They'll know how to pull trim, route wires, and replace the trim without breaking anything. They'll also know how to build in the XM radio so it integrates into your car and you'll likely be able to ditch the cassette interface too. They can also recommend the best hardware upgrade for your car.

Otherwise, get yourself a permanent XM antenna, drill a hole in your trunk, and route the lead tightly to existing harnesses to keep it out of the way for top operation.

Off topic a bit but I just got the new Inno before going on vacation this Summer and it ROCKS! My dream is that someday I can just dock it in my cars (like the hands-free phone system) and get integrated XM.

I got the inno too, I was sick of having to plug it into the cigarette light adapter so I ended up taking apart the adapter and soldering two wires to the the back of the board for power and ground. I then spliced into the cigarette light adapter power and took ground from a bolt that holds the airbag module to the body. Looks a lot neater and turns off and on with the car The only thing you see is the dock, no messy wires.
