New Audio System

Well today I had an Alpine W200 installed as well as Alpine R type 6.5 components and Alpine S Type 5.25 coaxial for rear fill. Ipod Adapter is installed, Ipod is in the glove box. Backup camera, nav, amps and sub on the way. I paid 1600 for the whole thing installed. Let me know what you guys think.

$1600 for HU, Nav and F/R speaker set installed? That's cheap. How much did you get your HU & Nav? Where did you get it and have it installed?

No NAV Head unit, speakers and installation. The Nav unit is on order. Got it installed at a shop in NJ, SR Audio. Headunit retails at like 1000 or so and the speakers were 400, then the ipod cable, pre-wire for sub/amps and installation all came to 1600.00. Nav is another 600. Comes this week. So does the Alpine Electronic Video Bypass The Black Box R3 for DVD Video and backup camera.

not bad but they should of used better wiring, looks like the cheap stuff that comes with the speakers because the manufacturer needs to include wire

very clean HU install though

And what type of wiring would be better? That is actually Stinger speaker wire. Not sure of the gauge but I will find out. And actually, Alpine does not include wiring with their speakers, I don't think any good manufacurers do.

The speaker wire is 18GA wire to bypass the amp (that is not their). Once the Amps and sub go in all of that wire will be replaced with 16 GA stinger wire. Will look a little prettier.

Nice install. Seems like a good price too. Is that double-DIN cage stock (with the "shelves" right at perfect single-DIN height")? That's a very nice design I wouldn't expect.

I should really stop by SR Audio, considering I drive by it every weekday. I finally "found" it by looking in my sideview mirror while I was getting gas one morning.

Door Panel

There are screws located behind the little SRS patch, as well as the door handle(pull). That has a cover on it, that needs to come off. 3 Phillips head screws. Then the door pops off, lift it up and unplug the door handle release. There is a puddle light below that needs to come out as well. For the rear, same thing. Screws in the similar locations, puddle lamp. Leave the door lock attached and put the panel down. That is pretty much it. Have at it, and good luck!

Thanks for the quick answer. Can't wait to put them in. Got an old ADS 4 channel amp from a previous car that I may hook up too. See how these speakers sound first.

Does your ML have an instrument cluster that shows trip computer/radio station/CD Track? Did the W200 have an adapter to integrate into this mate?
