Infrared Glass and Bluetooth
Does anyone own a Mercedes with infrared glass and use bluetooth? I just ordered a GL450 with 3 zone climate control that comes with the infraed glass. I need to be able to use my cell phone and seperate work blackberry while in my vehicle and do not want to use a cradle. I have read that there may be issues with the infrared glass and the cell hone/blackberry/bluetooth/homelink signals working though the glass. I would appreciate any input on this issue. Thanks.

Try to crack open the sunroof a little to see if it'd help..? BTW, bluetooth communicate with your phone from the car's unit. Do you use a headset or just have problem pairing the phone to the car's unit?

The bluetooth bit will not be an issue, because the phone is talking to the bluetooth adapter, both of which are in the car. I.E the comand will be able to dial using the phone etc etc.
However, with the US bluetooth system, the phone still acts as a transmitter, so uses it's internal antenna. So the important question is 'how will any phone/blackberry reception perform inside the car' given the metalised glass.
(Note that the European system uses bluetooth SAP and the very expensive bluetooth cradle takes over the phone's SIM identity, and thus uses the vehcile's aerial)

The one section of the original post i didnt deal with was the 'homelink' question - having thought about this, i would have expected that MB may well have specified a non metalised bit behind the inside mirror to let the homelink signal through if their tests showed it to be an issue - thats what they do around the GPS antenna when its mounted on the glass.
