Roof antenna broken, any suggestions?
2001 e320 sedan. Some bone-head must have mistaken my antenna for a pinata and whacked it with a stick because the thing is full-on busted.
It's the color matched roof mounted antenna with a black plastic tip.
The tip is actually the only part that is broken, but the dealer wants over $100 for the new one and I bet it is not too easy or quick to replace, thus adding more denaro to the mix.
Any ideas or fixes would be great.
Thanks

It's EXTREMELY simple to remove one screw, pull off the broken cap, and install the new one (which comes with a new gasket).

Nothing I guess. i want to fix somehting that seems SO SIMPLE for far less than $85 plus shipping for a color matched part that isn't even bad.
I find it difficult to understand why the rubber insert is not available as a separate part number.

I got the dealer to give me the last one I replaced. I think it was supposed to be $14 or something like that. I'm glad there is only 1.
Even if it was $40.... it helps to keep me driving safely (like twice a year here in SoCal!) and the antenna cover is absolutely pointless. The antenna on the rest of my cars are either integrated into the glass, or the mast is one piece that can be replaced fairly easily at a fraction of the cost of this piece of crap.

$150! I hope it was for more than the new rubber insert! That was $14 at the dealer and UNAVAILABLE through any aftermarket source that I could find.
And I thought my 911 had expensive parts.
