HarmanKardon in a W209 Convertible
I'm about to place an order for a CLK convertible and am debating whether a Harman Kardon upgrade is justified in a convertible.
Anyone's experiences would be appreciated. Thanks.
1. the HK surround's effect is totally diminished because of the small cabin on the CLK. Plus, using the Standard setting and boosting the bass and treble gives a better presence of the music IMO.
2. The HK play's MP3's, and the song names are on the MFD, however, the songs are limited to 99, and the changer although it play's mp3's also, it does not display the song titles on the MFD!!!.
I ended up just paying 299 and installing the IpoD kit, anad was very happy because Although the songs don;t show up on the command screen, they all show up on the MFD which was more important to me, and I also had full access to my entire library.
My 2006 CAB came with the HK as a package with Sat radio, So that's how I ended up with it, but I would have been just as well getting the regular unit with DVD nav. Which by the way, IS an MUST have. use the money you save on the HK and get NAV. and buy an IPOD Kit. IF you have it, opt for KEyless Go as well. You'll be glad you did.
Thanks for your comments.. When you say that it's limited to 99 songs, are you saying that the changer can only play 99 songs? I thought the HK is merely the speaker upgrades .... wonder if the HK system we have here in Australia is different to yours? (I'm assuming you're in the US considering the ipod is $299 where it's about $800 here I think). Keyless Go is also available here for $3300 and COMAND is $6800. Did I mention that a CLK350 is $150K. You guys have it good in the US (if you're in the US
)
