I am talking with some HD radio guys to try and get them to port their solution to MBZ (GL450) and they are scared of the fiber optics. But I would assume they could use the connection that the ipod unit or the backseat entertainment system uses (they are mutually exclusive) to connect up and provide HD radio capability throught the existing interface w/ the option of supporting an iPod as well.

Anyone with technical details, please drop me a line.

Are you saying that if I have rear entertainment system then I cannot add iPod integration kit? Could you please share any insight on this?

First find yourself a car audio shop that understands mercedes (most network). Then talk to them as they will not be intimidated by the fibres. If your local shop thinks it is high end and cannot work with fibre then they are not high end. All they understand is a dash unit and 4 speakers with maybe a amplifier and subs, this is not good enough to work on new German cars. Actually it isnt good enough to work on any of them. Cars are changing an progressing at a rapid rate and if the shop cannot keep up then they will start to loose business.
I shopped all over town before I foound a shop with the expertise to install in my c55. These shops also understand that you have alot invested in the car and dont want it screwed up or have issues with the dealer when you take it in for service.
