BT only with Motorola and RIM ?

Can anyone comment on what appears to be a very selective group (like only Motorla and RIM) of phones that MB BT Module will work with. I have a new a 2007 S550 and a Treo 650 (going for a 700P soon) and it just seems to me that limiting the phones completely departs from what I thought was the concept behind BT. e.g. liek it works with everything. It can't be that big of a deal as I have friends with cars (i.e. Acura RL/TL0 and they all are using different phones on them and they work?

I discussed phone compatibility with an AWS rep last week; I don't believe they are deliberately excluding PDAs. Most of the issues that arise are firmware related; some are equipment. Please note that the firmware is provided by the manufacturer and the service provider - not AWS. He did indicate however that they have a great deal of trouble with the Treo models, while having success with other PDAs.

Question

I recently got the BT V60 Puck for my E500 and my Blackberry pearl when connected doesn't get its phonebook loaded.

I'm pretty sure that the Motorola RAZR has it's phonebook downloaded when connected to the system...which leads me to wonder if I were to put my SIM card into my friend's RAZR and connect it, would my phonebook be downloaded and saved into my Comand?
So if i were to connect my Pearl to the BT I'd be able to use my actual phonebook which was uploaded during the RAZR connection?

Phonebooks download every time Command is turned on--they're not saved.

That's odd, i've got a Euro comand. The Serv button provides an address book menu.

So far I've manually in put the phone # and title of my family(they're first and obviously manual input worthy...even though I rarely talk to them on the phone)

Once a BT phone is connected I can select them from the a comand menu and call or use my steering wheel controls to scroll through Mom, Pops, Brother etc.
It seems as if some addresses are saved in the SERV address book and I thought thats where they were uploaded to when using a RAZR or AWS approved phone...that's not the case!?
