ML500 Bose System

I recenly bought an ml500 w/ the bose audio system and i thought it was lacking bass. I added a rockford fosgate amplified bass tube and took the feed from the bass tube from under the drivers seat. I think there is a system on the truck that changes the volume when driving at different speeds which may be the reason for my problem. Sporatically, the volume jumps to really high and then goes to really low, but it only happens when the bass tube is plugged in. If anyone has any information or fix for this problem, it would be greately appreciated.

Bass tube input

Yobusdis:

You might want to try to get the input (for the Bass tube) using line level instead of speaker level. Bose system has the tendency to use low impedance speakers (1-2ohm) on their system.

In my E55, I use MB Quart front speakers and add a subwoofer. I tap the line level wire (between head unit and Bose amp) as the feed of the aftermarket amp. I also need to add live level adapter since the voltage level on the Bose system is too small.

Guys. the 2002 ML has the digital Bose system, ie the head unit is not connected to the AMP with wires, the digitised sound is passed round the D2B fibre optic bus to the AMP. The same D2B bus has the CD player, phone, teleaid, VCS on it.

I.E The only outputs are after the BOSE amp, the ones that connect to the speakers

2000 E55

Richard:

My car is a 2000 E55. In this case the digital connection (fiber optic) is only between the head unit to the CD changer while the head unit to the Bose amp still uses analog wire.

Yep, you have "analogue bose", which means headunit is connected to the amp via it's speaker outs.

The S, CL and MY2002 ML have digital. I think the later E and new C may have digital bose aswell.

Having re-read yobusdis's original post, he may not have a 2002 ML, he may have a pre 2002 ML - they have analogue BOSE amps in them.
