2007 C230 W/Pre Wiring - Bluetooth
I have a 2007 C230 with the pre-wiring option. (It does not have the hands free option). I want to install a bluetooth adaptor. The dealer is charging me almost 2000 for this. I have seen several threads and options for older models; however, I am not sure about the options for 2007. I can see the cables for the “prewiring” but I am not sure if there is a kit for my model. I really do not want to spend 2000 dolars just for this. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Does your car have entertainment package? If so it already came prewired for bluetooth module. All you need to do then is to buy the module and connect it.

You MUST have the phone system installed and then muy the puck like Mark Cummins stated.
"prewiring" is just a fancy word for "you need to spend another 2K+ in ordert o get the phone to work.
MB's advertising lures a lot of folks into thinking they have a phone system by using this B.S. claim of prewiring. Then when you get the car, you find out that there is NO hardware installed and it costs another 2K after the fact..... They need to Stop this BS and tell the truth.

Well, I guess you are correct. I checked with the dealer and they gave me a quote for almost 2K.
I really do not know why they advertised as “prewired”. The sad thing is that I have all the buttons and they look nice (but there is no use).
Thanks a lot for your help, as least “now I know”.

They have finally realized that they lag behind other companies with this and with the 2008 C-Class bluetooth will be standard.

Well in MBs defense, the car really does need this pre-wiring in order to work. It means that all the fiber optic cable is there, you just need the cradle in the center console and the module in the trunk. If you did not have the pre-wiring this would not be possible at all.

Our 2006 W211, for example, was not prewired for Sirius, unlike earlier models.
This makes Sirius retrofit more expensive, as lots of the interior has to be removed to run the wires from the antenna and receiver in the trunk to the radio in the dash.
For phones, none of this is required, as all that's needed are additional components in the interior and in the trunk. The wiring to connect to these components is factory installed.
The cars can't really be completely phone equipped, as this would eliminate your choice of which phone to use and would create extra expense for those who don't want a phone.
