Want to integrate an IPOD into your CL? =)

Hey what's up everyone. I've been dying to integrate an IPOD into my CL. I have a 2001 CL500. After months of searching for the perfect way of doing it, I finally found a solution, the Dension Gateway500. This system is really amazing. You control your ipod through the stock cd controls (including your steering wheel controls) while maintaining your stock cd changer...

Anyhow, for my birthday I decided to treat myself to one, only thing is that my girlfriend decided to treat me to one as well.. After both her and I going through hell to find and get them, I now have 2 of them.. LOL

Anyhow, I am willing to sell one for a reasonable price. I paid $500 plus shipping, etc. It works with any CL from 2000 to 2005 as well as other benz's. I am attaching a link of the product below for your information. If you have any questions or want to make an offer feel free to email me directly at:

Dude,

If that kit works on your car, then it only works for 2000-2003 CL so you should change your years..That also applies for Most other Benzes with the exception of the E-class which it will only work up to 2002.

The reason is because you have a D2B car and Benz's went to MOST after the years stated.

Just thought you needed to know that.

my06clk is correct - there is a D2B version of the Gateway 500, and a MOST version; the two are not interchangeable.

Have you actually listened to the system in your car with some high quality music (e.g., higher bitrate) on the Ipod? Is the sound quality decent? The OEM system in my new ML is abysmal, not even worth the effort to plug the Ipod in to. It was a HUGE disappointment and I don't want to repeat that scenario with another system. How does the Dension unit compare to the OEM CD changer sound wise?

Thanks in advance,

- FD

Floobydust, there have been several workarounds posted for disappointing sound (usually volume related) with the MB iPod kit, if that's what you mean by OEM in the ML. I don't have them bookmarked, but try browing here and on BenzWorld - iPod volume as a search term might get it for you.

Comparing apples and oranges now - I had an iPod integrated into my '00 S500 using the (now non-available) Dension Ice>Link Plus - most of my music library is in Apple Lossless format at higher bitrates (160 and above), and a little in mp3. The mp3 suffered of course, but the better formats were excellent, better than FM radio - enough so that I am about to try a Dension Gateway 500. The mp3 recorded to DVD that I use now just doesn't compare.
