Voice Recognition dials Names & Numbers not in phonelist

Installed the VRM purchased on eBay. Telephone Core Kit and Blue Tooth puck from dealer in my 2004 CLK55. Motorola KRZR connects, contacts are downloaded to phonelist, sounds good. Voice Recognition responds to commands to change to CD, Radio, Telephone, etc.

But when I say 'Dial Name', system reponds with 'Name Please', I say a name and the VRM says a name not in my phonebook and dials a number not in my phonebook. The same goes when I say 'Phonebook', the VRM list off names not on my phonelist. Is there any way the VRM has names stored it it from the previous owner. Should not the list be stored in the Nav Comand unit or is it stored in the PES (Telephone).

I have an 02 C320 with VRM - that is the way mine works. The VRM memory is separate from the phone. (Not so swift IMHO). The phone book that appears on the NAV display is from the phone.

Delete the VRM phone book and add your numbers.

You must manually program the voice names. You must also manually delete the prior owner's.

Don't be surprised if you lise display of numbers in your phone book when you enter voice names on your VCM. See http://www.benzworld.org/forums/audi...downloads.html

Thanks for the info, deleted the old VRM phone book, added in the few names that I call frequently. So far the names still list in the phonebook. Tried this by disconnecting and reconnecting the Blue Tooth link which forces an download from the Motorola KRZR to the COMAND.

MB should have had a option where the user could have selected the name from the Phonebook to store in the VRM and the system would have prompted the user for the name as it already had the Phone # from the phonebook.

I couldn't agree more. The way it works is not intuitive; the delivery specialist at my dealer could not solve the problem; but being stubborn, I worked on it until coming up with the information in the link.
