Harmon-Kardon Speed Sensitive Volume Control

I had the dealer disable the speed sensitive volume control (SVC) function on the Harmon-Kardon system in my new W164. I hate these systems in general as they never perfectly compensate for the psychoacoustic masking caused by road noise and sub/infra-sonic chassis vibrations. Most just crudely boost volume with speed (like the Bose in my SL500). Does the H-K SVC also adjust the equalization in addition to the volume?

Since I had it disabled right off the lot, I'm not sure. The audio system in the '06 demo I test drove sure seemed to sound better than that which is in my new '07. I checked with MB and the part numbers for the major components are the same for both years, so either my memory is faulty (not unlikely these days) or the SVC also changes the EQ. I'd like to know as I don't want to deal with the annoyance if it doesn't change the EQ.

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks,

- FD
