03 ML350 Avic Z1 Optical only Bose Help Pls.

Hello,
I just picked up an 03 ML350 Inspiration and I'm getting ready to install a Pioneer Avic Z1 (from my old car)
But I'm running into a few walls, and could really use some help.

I have the VW Harness and was all set to go when I discovered that my MCS has the pins for line level audio output, but the harness does not have the wiring.

The audio is routed to the amp only by the D2B optical.

A) Is it possible to run new lines from the Bose Amp to the harness.
Is there a non-optical audio input on my model (info below)?

B) Does anyone have a pin-out chart for the Bose Amp?

C) Would I be better off bypassing the Bose Amp, pulling back the harness, tapping into each speaker line, and feeding them directly from the new HU?

Thanks a million for the help.

I can't wait to get my XM, Nav. and Ipod back up and running

the amp doesnt have actual line level inputs, only the optical inputs. it is possible to take the amp apart and add in line inputs past the optical section but this is a bit advanced even for most audio shops. if you remove the amplifier the speakers have to go as well because they are impedance matched to the amp: the bose speakers use a low impedance that does not work well with aftermarket radios.

you can switch everything out, or you can set up an aux input and keep the whole system or do the amp modification.

Thanks

Do you have any experience or info on the amp line in modification.
I'm pretty comfortable taking on that type of project.
Any prints or advise where to start searching would be appreciate.

For now I have completely bypassed the bose amp, and wired the speakers right to the HU output.

It sounds OK, but I'd like to try working the OEM amp in before totally replacing the speakers
