Comand W211 - 3D NAV map ?

Hi folks,

I saw somewhere (but I don't remember where) that it could be possible to choose between 3 types of screens for NAV map :

2D north
2D "fitted to direction"
3D viewing

Do you know about it, or did I dreamt ?

If it exists, where can I set this up ? Hidden menu ?

I've got a 2003 W211 wagon, Euro Comand with last update : W211 589 13 22 00 (SW: 21.090, 30/06), DVD disc v6.0 (2007)

Thanks for your help

Your COMAND Manual should tell you. If you don't have one, unfortunately, the only ones I have access to are for U.S. specification cars, and the particular site does not have the manual for the '03 (U.S.) - however, you might try downloading the '02 and '04 manuals and see if one comes close. The site is at http://home.earthlink.net/~phdwebsite/comand_manual.htm

Once you download the electronic manuals, search them using the terms "view" or "display."

It isn't anything "hidden" - it's quite simple on my '05 DVD based system, but those instructions would be very different from yours.

Good luck.

my comand has now 2007 caracteristics because of the last update, as I said.
I've ETA activated, for example.

If you mean "bird's eye view" with 3D, there was an update like that recently for the US W221. Rumors say a similar update has been planned for the W211. Discussed probably on the W211 forum some time ago. As far as I am aware, nothing like that exists today, never know about tomorrow.

so, let's wait 3D bird view comes...

another big improvement I would love to see in the next update is the speed radars on the European roads (France, Belgium...) shown in POIs...

----

do someone know is there's any difference between the US (SW: 22.100, 46/06) and Euro (SW: 21.090, 30/06) Comand updates ?

What would happen if I put US update in my Euro Comman head unit ?

Well, that's nice to know. I have no idea what the '07 update did for your older Euro COMAND. Perhaps your dealer can answer your question, since your COMAND manual doesn't, any more.

The ability to align the map to the car's direction has been a COMAND capability for a long time, so you should be able to do that with or without the update. The same menus used for that selection should get you to the 3D bird's eye view, if the update provided it.

I'd settle for an update that allows you to enter business names.

Ohh okay.. I have the 07 version with the 07 firmware also but my 04 version also has birds eye view.. I guess I just assumed that was a standard. So weird how they change certain things on certain versions with no rhyme or reason to it...

Yes, you have a S and the discussion is about E. Those two don't necessarily mesh.
