Night View anyway is intended to extend visibility when driving with low beams. You seemed to be after an improvement when driving with high beams, I don't see Night View being for a lot of help there.
Wasn't the system on Caddys a bit different, don't know those but I tend to remember those were passive, not using IR emitters?

You don't have to have another IR equipped car approaching, any halogen would be so strong IR source that it blinds the IR camera, on that spot. A good camera would not get blind elsewhere.
Why do you want to use a night view camera at daylight? The MB camera works at twilight, not at sunlight. Are you concerned that you cannot show off with the MB camera at sunlight? I don't think MB owners would normally care to do that, not too much even at night.
JBondox, glad u found this dude, can i see what that install looks like on teh GL?

the difference between the two? Seriously? Thermal imaging by far is the best in the world, not only is the military using it, but it allows you to see objects that aren't visible in the IR spectrum

If you are not willing to talk about it openly on the forum, my conclusion would be that it is either stolen stuff or just scam. Why not come with the real figures and convince your potential customers.

please give me some leeway here, i won't BS you or anyone here.
AlI, Metroparks tonight will be a great video, wouldn't you think? Towards brecksville reservation.
till tomorrow
went out last night around midnight, used the hell out of it, probably put about 150 miles on the vehicle. it works great, however, I am not one to be looking down and to the right on the screen for a Porsche Cayenne.
Now comparing this to the Mercedes IR camera and this thermal imaging there are huge differences. I did drive the S class for some time to actually compare the 2.
My conclusion is that it if the image isn't up by the windshield above the dash board it is completely useless. I could easily pump the images to the instrument cluster on the Benz or even the command screen, or both. But you need to have eyes looking fwd on the road
Here is where the two units differ and i will state the pros and cons of each.
With the thermal imager that i used you can see threat of an animal or deer, way beyond the bright lights/headlights/and fog lights. It also identifies a living object as a bright spot, where the IR camera from MB just illuminates the way entirely and couldn't care lees if it is a deer, or a blade of grass. Now the down side is that there was some dark spots that didn't show up the road, because i could see the road without headlights, but sometimes when i went under a huge canopy of trees, the screen was black. At first I thought I had a problem with the camera until the one time it was black there was a coon's heat signature on a black screen. So in real honestly you need both to do it right. each has it's draw backs.
MB Cameras IR pros
- it lights everything up further than the headlights can see
- The technology is cheap cheap
Cons
- on coming headlights mess with it, especiall if another vehicle is using IR
- doesn't distinguish between real road issues
- limited range
- works only at night when the headlights are on
- won't work in fog or smoke conditions
The Thermal Camera Pro's
- will show you living threats in front of you
- will show you objects in your way
- you can see for a long distance such as the horizon, including stars
- works in fog and smoke conditions
- Works anytime
CONS
- expensive
- picture varies sometimes from dark to light depending on how much heat radiation is present
- expensive
- expensive
As soon as I get the video put together and see if I can load it up to my buddies site I will show ya.

1st point. Nobody owns the night in a war.Especially when eveybody has NV. You think only night goggles fit on American heads?
2nd point. Which war exactly are you referring to?? We haven't been in a WAR since the 60's everything else has been nothing short of and invasion of someone elses business...IMO. Debatable or not we certainly aren't at war at teh moment. Unless you want to consider invading country that's doing nothing but causing a sharp decline in our domestic youth population for "insurance" purposes a war. IF you are a defense contractor it looks more like a business venture...
Sorry.. I'm out of the war conversation..LOL...
I must say there is nothing like the experience... truly the most exciting dayz that I will never forget...
How I miss him, the last remaining President with nuts... back on topic... Does them rednecks Know about thermal imagers
because I tell ya we (my son and I ) were so close and the deer never had a clue... we could of bagged 20 deer last night easily
