Radio code

I have a 1987 560 SEL, and the battery died. The radio reset, and I don't know the code or how to turn it back on. I don't want to take it to the dealer for something that little. If anyone could help, or is there a website on how to fix it, I can finally listen to my radio again. If you need any info about the radio, post back what you need to know.

The dealer can look up your car's service and warranty history for free! The radio code is listed on that.

Don

MB Radio Code

Drive up to any MB dealer (preferably in the MB in question) and provide them with the related Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).
(Note: If you’re not on first name basis, some dealers will insist on seeing the car's registration and ask you for I.D.)

They will provide you the code (usually five digits) for the radio that was installed at the factory, as per the VIN. This is provided, of course, free of charge.

Should you have a good relationship with a "German Auto" mechanic, they can call the dealer and do this via telephone, since they are on "first name" basis with most dealers (due to ongoing purchase of MB parts).

I’ve done this many times and it works. Good luck!

Note: Of course, it gets trickier if the radio in your car is not original. Hopefully, this is not the case in your situation.

If you drive to any dealer with the car and registration and ID they will do it for free and make sure you get it and write it down
