Can Remote Start Alarm Be Done?
However you would need to have (extra) electronic key nstalled/hidden under drivers side dash within alarm system. I have not been back to have installed, but wanted to know what others think regarding this install...can it be done????

Im not soo sure that thats the best source of information ....
If your car has the IR Key ---- NO WAY !!!
if it uses the switchblade style key ... then yes ...

I assume they are not talking about a KG car and leaving the key in?
In any case, it would be nice to know your car has this remote starter, meaning you have a key in the car, just have to figure out where it is, put it in and go away with the car
A friend of mine told be that there is a product out there that can bypass the immobilizer on IR keys, but haven't found it myself.

Ever notice how whenever the remote start/IR smartkey question comes up all we ever see is someone saying that it can be done but never anyone *showing* that it can be done. The best buy guys can say what they want right up until they have to do it.. Then comes the foolish look when they have to explain why nothing is done 8 hours later.
The reason why nobody has a working remote starter for smartkey is because its a very difficult thing to do. It can be done for sure but it is just a matter of someone making a product that is reasonably inexpensive.

They put the man in the moon, easy to say "anything can be done" but things become different if it needs to be done with a reasonable budget. The thing with the key in the car comes closest to what I could consider working because otherwise they would have to be able to break the the MB Drive Authorisation System (and if they were able to do that, they would not be on the remote starter business any more).
In any case, I assume the intention here is to make the car warm before leaving off, now that winter is coming. In this case the best option is to install a remote controlled auxiliary heater (an MB OEM option exists). Some guys from the south at summer want the remote start to cool the car, the MB OEM heater makes it half way there too, it applies the heater fan but of course would not be able to use AC when the engine is not running.
The aux heater would save a lot your engine too, as well as the modern exhaust system.
