04 CLK 500 Coupe

couple of things
1. I like to add Bluetooth but my cell (mobile) phone is a Blackberry 8700g thru T-Mobil. Is there any adapter for my CLK that I can get my phone to adapt?

2. How do you get rid of that 1 Malfunction error about stating that Tele-Aid is not activated? My dealership said it's on there for ever and I can't take it off the screen for good. They want around $860 for 1 year service thru Tele-Aid and there is a lifetime service as well but can't remember if it's over $1,600 or $2,100.

amusa,

You car can be fitted with a V60 Bluetooth puck if it already has an MB phone system. See the "How-To" guide sticky at the top of this forum for information on what you need.

As to the tele-aid question, see http://www.benzworld.org/forums/audi...displayed.html. The prices you have been quoted seem to be appropriate for upgrade of analog Tele-Aid to digital, plus a subscription price as you indicated. Tele-aid service alone is much less expensive.

Please do a search of this forum and the similar one on BenzWorld for information regarding turning off the tele-aid trouble light, if you are not going to upgrade. It has been addressed a number of times, but I don't have the posts bookmarked to give you. The dealer CAN do it.

It has that microphone (round black piece) by the rear view mirror. It has the 2 switches in the arm rest (middle console). It has the talk button on the steering wheel if that helps.

Those are for your Tele-Aid system. What you need to know, and links to follow to determine what you have, are in the "How-To" guide reference I gave you.

replace COMAND or Audio20 with aftermarket, don't throw a band-aid at it, the system is over 10 years old and outdated... my opinion of course

Obviously read the sticky, etc if you plan to stay with the Command system but x2 with jbondox's advice. I pulled the Command head unit out as well as the cd deck and replaced it with an Alpine head unit. In addition to BT, USB and AUX, connectivity to my Blackberry Z10, my Iphone and my kids Samsung devices, I also got Pandora. My son runs Google maps with voice directions, via his Iphone and the Alpine, through my Bose speakers. Those are just examples for a one time purchase and install price that is cheaper than updating Command and I don't pay a subscription fee as I think you have to with Teleaid. No harm done to the vehicle's resale value as the OEM equipment is stored away safely to be conveyed with the car when that time comes.

If you are going down this road I would make a list of the functionality that you need and scroll through the inventories of places like Sonic Electronic and Crutchfield's to find units that have the feature set you want and fit your car. Crutchfield's has super helpful techs available via phone who can help you with all aspects of the above. Good luck.

I agree with you somewhat City Rat, but not on the Crutchfield or Sonix. First the techs only read at the notes they have to make it sound like they know what they are doing.

Personally i would look in your area for a stereo shop who knows MB and who the local dealership recommends. You go with your own gear and say install it... I am sure they have an appointment for you on a Wednesday 2 months from then.

Alpine and Kenwood are great choices, however if you go with a Navigation system, Kenwood over Alpine, the Kenwood is easier to operate and has a better menu system.

Jbondox, agree, that is exactly what I did, so why I suggested this route to the OP. Crutchfield's and Sonic are just convenient as they have good selections. While I had Crutchfield's install the HU as I was in the neighborhood, the rest I bought from Sonic and took it to an installer.
