Does anyone get insurance discount for having the Mercedes alarm system in their car? I have read somewhere that a thief could cover the rear window antenna with tin foil to block the broadcast of the car's position. As far as I can tell, they would only need to do that it they could find a way to start the Mercedes and get the steering wheel to turn and all. Having some tracking is certainly better than none at all. But my insurance agent said that I could only get a discount if I have LoJack.

Have any of you been given the same argument and if so, have you been able to overcome it?

yeah, my insurance company won't give discount unless it is a recovery system with tracking and in some way connected with the police like LoJack.

And even with lojack, they said the price would only make a difference of like $20-$30 a year discount. and $30 is not going to convince me enough to install a $600 system, especially when my insurance is already about $5,000 a year

So, since the MB stock security system is so stealth, that unless the theif has the key, you have no worries about the car being 'STOLEN'
