AVIC D3X in 2000 CLK

Hello all. I am getting ready to install the AVIC D3X in my 2000 CLK and by searching the forums, know that I need the VW wiring harness, radio removal tool and antenna extender. I couldnt find any information on if I need an installation kit for it or is the size of the D3X the same as the COMAND system I have in there. Any help is appreciated!

I take it you saw http://deverse.com/jbm/2007/09/24/me...ic-d3-install/ cited at https://mbworld.org/forums/showthrea...c+installation?

According to the first link, the AVIC D3 is a double DIN unit; according to http://www.whnet.com/4x4/radios.html, so is the COMAND unit in your car (the 2.0 and 2.5 in COMAND designations refers to the DIN size, not to a series or model number). Therefore the sizes of the AVIC D3 and your COMAND unit should be the same in height and width.

The first link above also discusses brackets - or lack thereof. Some folks have made their own.
