Euro Comand 2.0 Update problems
So I have the ECE Mercedes update CD (original CD not a copy) that is specifically for the ECE Comand 2.0 and 2.5 units.
After following the instructions, the unit comes up and shows the current version Oct 8 1999 and the new version on the cd (Oct 2001) the next step is to select "Start Head unit" and the screen turns blue and the software download from CD starts, but after about 30 seconds the Comand turns off. It should stay on and display a status bar showing the status of the update. The update should take 40 minutes. I waited 45 minutes and no change and no activity, so the Comand indeed is turned off and not doing anything in the background. I have tried this numerous times, with the key in the ignition (not on), ignition turned on 1 click and ignition turned on 2 clicks, as the CD instructions were not specific about this, so I tried all positions, no luck.
Anyone run across this? Any fix for this problem or is there a trick that is not covered in the instructions?

There were some early E class units (part nr starting A210 .. .. .. ) that can not be updated - what you are describing is what happens on those units
