![Question](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
I know this has been discussed, but could not find what I needed.
I got the 3rd generation SDARs module (Thanks Rick!) and am having the dealership install it. They are telling me they also need a bracket for it and a new antenna for it. I was under the impression that it would tie in with the existing shark fin antenna on my vehicle but they are telling me it requires another antenna that they mount on my trunk. They have to drill a hole for it obviously. The trunk antenna is color matched to my car, but I did not realize this was necessary.
Any gurus out there that can confirm/deny this?
Thanks for any help.

I can confirm that pre-2007 E-class require the trunk-mount antenna.
You can confirm it too by viewing the installation instructions by subscribing for a day at http://www.startekinfo.com
Beginning 2007, the E-class antenna is indeed "triband."

Or you could go to a third party for a anntenna that could be mounted without drilling the hole. This is the option I made when the trunk mounted (not the color of the car) anntenna. It's very simple to plug any Sirrus antenna into the rear of the reciever in the trunk and get reception. Good luck.
