Posted by eMercedesBenz

Produced in partnership with Garmin, the nav system features a 4.3 inch high-definition, non-reflecting display and a depth of just two centimeters, making it one of the slimmest products on the market...

Looks interesting - I'm really curious how they integrate it with power and sound.

Personally, I'm not in love with the bracket - looks too "boxy" for me, but then again I like my TomTom...

(God, sorry for the craptastic photo - phone is worse than I expected.. )

Why should this one be different for voice from your TomTom? A question really, I'm used to COMAND. I was expecting no audio integration with the car. Or is your TomTom too connected to the car audio system?

So on my TomTom, I can plug it into the AUX in on my system - to be honest, I usually don't, I just plug the iPod straight in. (ie the TomTom is "iPod aware", and allows you to drive the iPod from the touchscreen. From the TomTom, Aux input allows iPod and directions back through the HU..)

From the article :

Its integration into the vehicle electronics system gives the Mercedes-Benz StreetPilot III portable navigation system a number of additional functions that increase comfort and enhance safety. For example, when a recommended route is spoken through the vehicle loudspeakers, the system automatically mutes the radio, ensuring that all the information can be clearly understood, just as it would be from a device installed in the factory. Additionally, from the moment the ignition is turned on, the system is powered up and ready to function at any time.
I'm curious how they manage the power and audio integration - ie does in "consume" your AUX in - or even "require" an aux it, etc... :-)

The Mercedes streetpilot III names itself a Garmin NUVI 760.

Has anybody done a firmware update to version 4.60 yet? Any improvments?
