RF IPOD CONNECTIONS

My daughter has a Chevy Cavaleir and I was looking for a way to allow her to use her IPOD in the car without a ton of modifications.

What is available for me to use. An RF unit?

Thanks
Bruce

I got my girlfriend a Motorola T505 "BLUETOOTH" device that allows handsfree phone calls over the radio. If you purchase the boothtooth adaptor for the Ipod, you can play it over the factory stereo through this device.

That might work. Did you get it online, if so where?
Thanks Again

Another choice that some like is the Harman-Kardon Drive+Play, which can be hard-wired through the FM antenna. It replicates the iPod screen, too (Drive + Play 2 has a color screen, D+P 1 has a black & white - depends on how much you want to spend). It is not a Bluetooth device.

http://www.harmankardon.com/Default.aspx - select "Car Products."

OK so I am quite a novice here.

What would I need, to do this with either of these 2 suggestions, and what should I look at as far as cost?
I mean is it a packgage or do you buy componenets.

I hate to think I have it, when in reality I missed it.

Thanks Again

Got both pieces at Best Buy ! The Motorola piece was just on sale for $109.00 and I think the Bluetooth was around $79.00 - Both for under $200.00 !

Go to the Harman-Kardon link I gave you; you can get price by selecting an item and going to the shopping cart (just don't provide any payment info).

I haven't checked lately, but the unit was once offered as an RF set (not a good idea - too much interference from radio stations, poor audio quality) with an FM modulator option that connected to the FM antenna lead (a much better solution) at extra cost. The item is no longer available through the H-K online service, but there is a list of stores on the site.

what year is the CAV? there are a lot of options from companies like PAC and peripheral that will allow direct connection of the Ipod to the stock radio

Don't know how long she will have the car though. That is why I was looking for a simple system.

So far I did buy the Motorola t505 unit. Dave had mentioned.

I personally liked the Harmon unit for me(if I were an IPODDER kind of guy).
But for the kidskie I think less to look at, the better the concentration will hopefully be while driving.

The RF units are a pain. I would do direct connect (i.e. Harmon Kardon)
