05 phone install

Is it as easy or cheap as the 04'? From what I understand the 04 only needs the cradle and few other things to make this work. Reason I am asking is the deal quoted me over 3000 USD to do the job. I am heading several guys in here that have done the job on an 04 for about 600. Anyone know what the difference is?

'04 and '05 are completely different systems.

That said, still all you need is an electronics box in the trunk, a cradle connector in your console, and then either a phone cradle or a bluetooth module.

Details here:

You can price the parts here:

$3K is too high, as that's about 1K more than we paid on our '06 which is same as your '05 except the front-to-back wiring is missing, meaning the interior was taken apart to run it. That's before the price of the phone, of course.

Yes I did--they are probably quoting high so you'll be happy when final cost is lower.

The installation in a '05 s simple, especially using the guide that lkchris referenced. The most expensive thing would be parts - very expensive through a dealer, less so through other suppliers or ebay.

Also note that installation of Voice Control is included in the instructions but is optional.

Also, If I understand correctly, I dont need every part in the kits in the manual that chris gave me right?
I.E. BQ 682 0906, and BQ 682 0950. The last one is the Voice, I might do that one but maybe later.

Is there a place I can go that will tell me what part numbers are in the kits so that I am able to find just the parts I need?

If I understand correctly, all i REALLY need to get it working is the MHI control module with the needed MOST Fiber and misc connectors, the contact plate, and the bluetooth module, plus the whole VCS Kit if I want that right now.

What I DONT need is the linear compensator, and the antenna splitter, plus any other cables and misc.

Let me know if I am wrong here.

Thanks

Unfortunately, the phone bulletin for your model year only lists the kit numbers, and not the individual part numbers. Your dealer may be able to break it down further as might the 3rd party supplier I gave you.

Unfortunately, that makes it difficult to tell exactly which cables you need - the CTEL/VCS connectors, for example. It is true that you do not need the linear compensator and antenna switch if you are going straight to bluetooth.
