E2 message!

E2 message!
Does anyone know what the E2 error message means on my radio? It will power up, the antenna extends, the radio displays E 2, then powers down. Anyone got any ideas?
Also I don't know my code after a battery disconnect, any help there?

What year and model do you have?
If it is a 1990-91 126 or 124 the rear trunk mounted unit is the problem.
The code can be gotten with your VIN from a MB dealer at the parts counter.
