W210 CD changer died
Hi all,
MY2000, W210 with Command, Navigation, fiber optic, no telephone.
The in-trunk CD changer was kind of skipping for a while when driving over bumps, but yesterday died completely. Get the message "Please check the disk" for each tray it checks for CD presence and then tells me that it doesn't have any CDs in it even though there are 12 loaded. I tried factory CDs and home made, same result. I removed the unit, well at least unbolted it and swiveled it around, removed the fiber optic cable and reinserted it. No change in response. Anyone has any ideas what to do? I searched and couldn't find any solution, lots of hits and misses but no real solution.
Thanks,
Alex

Dead CD Changer
A good auto radio repair shop can rebuild it for a couple of hundred dollars or you can purchase a new OME one from Performance Products for a little more.
The heat in the trunk plus the vibrations from being directly over the rear wheels is rather hard on them.

I have 6 cd changer that I pulled out of my 2000 E55, I never had any problems with it. My car only has 35k on it. If your interested in buying it drop me a PM....I think 150+shipping is fair. The reason I pulled it out, I ungraded my stereo with an Alpine system.
